I noticed that also. The wear is not too bad though. It shows which letters were used more often or the ones that were adjusted differently from the others.

Looks like someone used a regular screwdriver instead of one with a parallel ground tip.

But look at the "stripes" where the typeslugs hit. 80 years of use.
