The effect is pretty impressive -- it does look like the work of an old typewriter -- but I detect a certain condescension in the app. (Look, you can make your modern gadget act like one of those ancient, dirty, misaligned typewriters! Ha ha!)
Definitely unnecessary! I wonder if the next step is a keyboard or touchpad that simulates the full-bodied sound of a typewriter and dings e very time you reach the right-hand edge of the screen.

Now, the big question is: why use an app like this to *pretend* that I'm using a typewriter, when you can enjoy working on the real thing? :-P
