I've wanted to get onionskin paper ever since I began collecting typewriters in earnest just over a year ago -- UNTIL I realized that most of my machines have rock-hard platens and would probably punch right through the thin paper!

You got it. The reasons for using onionskin paper.
It was also used for air mail to keep the price and weight low. It makes great tracing paper also.
Bill beat me to it. I've always kept it on hand for the postal weight savings. I'm glad you like it.
