Schreibmaschinenwalzen erneuern

Schreibmaschinenwalzen erneuern. Some other piece of office machinery.

Some other type of office machinery. Millenia ago, men counted items with their fingers. They invented stone carvings, abaci, thousands of different methods to do number work. But they wanted to calculate bigger numbers, multiply more and add faster. The adding machine was a dream of mankind, and the first adding machine was invented in 1623 by Wilhelm Schickard, but they weren't mass-produced until the mid of the 19th century. As with typewriters, there was a broad variety of basic priniples for adding machine. Some could only mult add and suctract, but the more interesint machines can multiply and divide as well. Very advanced models could even calculate the square root of a number, automatically. If crank-operated, without electricity. In 1908, the MADAS (Multiplication, automatic division, addition, subtraction) calculating machine was first produced in Zurich. In 1935, the MADAS 16 entered production. It is a massive machine, weighing 12 kg and featuring a keyboard of 8x9 number keys. But watch the MADAS l6L in action: This awesome post was brought to you by the mighty Typosphere

Herbsttag. Rainer Maria Rilke.

Better, loosely translation:
The man without a house will build no more,
the man without a mate will sole remain,
will wake, will read, write letters long with pain
and walk the boulevards, restless to the core,
where falling leaves are drifting with the rain.

All-Swiss Type-In

Excited Georg. He found a military model-Hermes Media.

Three different Hermes Medias.

A well-filled thrifth store. We found a total of 8 typewriters inside.

Typecast. English Typecast.

Trying to find out what fonts we discovered.

At Salvation Army. There were also 5 typewriters. We bought two.
