A bit of random history, but the 'Trimphone' telephone used to have a glow in the dark dial. It was unfortunately radioactive - which, as you could imagine ended badly with a recall, and a situation where they had thousands of radioactive dials that unfortunately led to a situation where they had become too dangerous to dispose of conventionally.

Radium wears off when touched unless it would have been placed under glass key tops. Eventually it still would have deteriorated.
