Typing multicopy documents with carbon paper is a dying art in these days of cheap electronic originals.
That claim (that a certain typewriter could make up to 8 carbon copies at once) came with an asterisk and small print even back in the day: you had to use the right paper to achieve that. And you had to almost break your fingers typing real hard. I still remember that, back in the '70s - '80s, my dad used to bring home carbon copies of things he typed at work for his personal file. Those copies were always typed on onion paper, while the originals were typed on thick, standard bond paper. That way you could easily know when a document was an original or a copy, and that's how you managed to get readable printings even in the last copy.
8 carbons???? I agree with Miguel. To get that many copies one would have to literally hammer the keys and even then I bet copies 4 through 8 would be progressively lighter and perhaps blurrier. Good 3 & 4 copies are a challenge without onion paper.
